Meeting with World Bank Representatives
Wednesday, Nov 22 2017

A meeting of the representatives of the University of Rijeka and representatives of the World Bank was held on the UNIRI Campus at the STEPRI Science and Technology Park. The meeting was held on the World Bank's initiative since the World Bank's partnership strategy with Croatia for the previous period has just ended, and the World Bank is therefore launching a consultative process for the preparation of the new Country Partnership Framework.

The goal of visiting Rijeka and the University of Rijeka is to get to know the economic and social situation in Croatia and to engage in consultations with a large number of interlocutors and representatives of society.

Madam Rector Snježana Prijić-Samaržija introduced the World Bank representative and its associates with the investments made so far and the University's development plan, both to raise student standards and accommodation capacities, and to continue investing in new programs and scientific infrastructure and equipment.

The World Bank's representatives were also interested in the work of the Science and Technology Park, as half of the investment in STPEPRI was financed from the STP1 World Bank program and STEPRI was rated as one of the most successful projects in the program. The interest of the World Bank representatives has also been demonstrated for the STEPRI 2 project - construction and equipping of the science and technology park in the area of the former INA Mlaka refinery, for which the University of Rijeka in partnership with INA dd and the City of Rijeka strives to ensure financing and implementation.
