Dobri primjeri iz prakse
University of Rijeka Faculty of Engineering

Upon establishing an institutional system of quality assurance at the Faculty of Engineering, a continuous analysis of underlying reasons as to why students do not manage to graduate in due course is being carried out.

We hold that, in addition to subjective and personal reasons why students do not complete their studies on time, there are objective reasons that also contribute to this issue and they must be addressed in terms of increasing the rate of students' success in regard to graduating in due course.

In order to obtain feedback, we adopted a survey (in Croatian) which we offered to those students who "study unsuccessfully." The term "unsuccessful studying" implies two separate cases:
  • Repeating an academic year / re-enrolment
  • Change of study programme/removal from study programme altogether.
Evaluation of reasons for unsuccessful studying has been conituously carried out for three years running. Collected data is analyzed on a yearly basis and is delivered to the Faculty Council where all aspects of Quality Assurance are taken under consideration in terms of collected data.

Likewise, in the Action Plan for establishing a Quality Assurance cycle for the 2008-2013 time frame the activity of Implementation of a Quality Assurance Survey of Reasons of Unsuccessful Studying.
