InCities Platform Introduced
Friday, Oct 20 2017

A presentation titled "By 2020 - Increasing the visibility of the Rijeka University" was held today at the University of Rijeka Rectorate. Representatives of Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) held a presentation on the InCites Research Evaluation Tool which, based on citation data, enables scientific research institutions to analyze their scientific productivity and compare it across the world at all organizational levels – from individual researchers , institutions, journals, to scientific disciplines on both national and international level. It will be shown how, through InCites, it is possible to monitor the activity at the University of Rijeka.

Those present were welcomed by the Vice Rector for Science, professor Alen Ružić, M.D., Ph.D., on behalf the Rector Snježana Prijić Samaržija, Ph.D. The Vice Rector thanked the head of the University Library Senka Tomljanović for this initiative.

Marko Zovko and Massimiliano Carloni from Clatitive Analytics have presented their product to the University staff.

The InCites platform is linked to the Web of Science platform and is incorporated in this service, and its contents are updated once a month. At the moment, the platform can compare among about 8 000 institutions in the world. Everything that is indexed on the Web of Science platform can be analyzed.

During the demonstration, it was possible to see some examples of good practice in using this tool and to note that the University of Rijeka is unfortunately not adequately indexed. After the presentation, it was decided that the University of Rijeka will be able to use a trial version of this tool for a period of one month and that, if necessary, user training webinars will be organized.
