An Agreement of Cooperation on scientific, research, developmental and educational projects between the University of Rijeka Faculty of Engineering and MEYER WERFT GmbH & Co. KG shipyard from Papenburg, Germany, was signed at the University of Rijeka Faculty of EngineeringProfessor Jasna Prpić Oršić, Ph.D., Faculty of Engineering Dean, signed the Agreement on behalf of the Faculty of Engineering, whereas Mr. Philip Gennotte, member of the Board, signed it on behalf of the MEYER WERFT shipyard. 


The Agreement sets the frames of future cooperation on projects of mutual importance which will be suggested by each party of this Agreement and depending on their own needs and interests. Each party is given a possibility to suggest individual projects with companies associated with the MEYER WERFT shipyard, such as MEYER Turku Oy from Finland or TSI Ltd. from Rijeka. 

Prior to the signing of the Agreement on Cooperation and following the MEYER WERFT shipyard's invitation, the Faculty of Engineering Management visited their shipyard and agreed on cooperation frameworks and preparations for students' visit of the shipyard. Student practice of the students from Faculty of Engineering is also planned to be executed in TSI and MEYER WERFT shipyard, and there could also be some lectures by the experts from both business entities, as well as the possibility of writing M.A. theses on the development of one of their ships. The Agreement also applies to the exchange of experts, the possibility of specialization and work on joint projects and programs.

The goal of the current partnership between the Faculty of Engineering and TSI Ltd., as well as the future partnership with the German MEYER WERFT shipyard, is to work on mutual projects, and especially to invest in new generations of engineers who will, through their education in positive and encouraging environment and direct contact with modern and innovative manufacturing modes, acquire experience and knowledge that will help them grow in the business world.
