H.E. Astrid Versto Visits UNIRI

H.E. Mrs. Astrid Versto, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Croatia, visited the University of Rijeka on Saturday, February 10th, 2018. The Inaugural Reception was held at the University of Rijeka Rectorate, and Madam Ambassador was welcomed by the University of Rijeka Rector Snježana Prijić-Samaržija, Ph.D., Professor Goran Turkalj, Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Organization and Infrastructure Management, and Ms. Iva Tijan, from the Rector's Office International Unit.

Respective Madams Rector and Ambassador discussed past cooperation between the Kingdom of Norway and Republic of Croatia, i.e., the University of Rijeka and educational institutions in Norway, cooperation between scientists, students, as well as experts in the field of shipbuilding.

The University of Rijeka in cooperation with the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) is in the process of organizing a conference in March entitled "Peace and Conflict", whose program and a list of recipients was briefly presented to Madam Ambassador Versto by Madam Rector Prijić-Samaržija.

Madam Rector invited H.E. Versto to attend the roundtable discussion which will be held as a part of the Peace and Conflict Conference. Numerous activities to be organized by the University of Rijeka during the upcoming Norway Week in Rijeka set to take place during the last week of April 2018 were also discussed.

H.E. Astrid Versto emphasized the importance of establishing ground work for long-term cooperation and presented the recently established EEA Norway Grants for the purpose of developing further cooperation between the University of Rijeka and Norway.
