Open Dialogue of UNIRI and MZO

The meeting between the Ministry of Science and Education (MZO) delegation and the UNIRI Management with the students was held on Wednesday, February 14th, 2018, as a part of the of Minister Blaženka Divjak's visit. The meeting was organized by the Student Union of the University of Rijeka. Respective Madams Rector and Minister presented the conclusions from the UNIRI Senate Session at a press conference which followed after the meeting with students.

Madam Rector Snježana Prijić-Samaržija once again thanked the Minister and her team for their visit and stated at a press conference: "We are honored by your delegation's visit and by being the first university at which you have spent the entire day. We concluded at the Senate Session that the University of Rijeka and the Ministry of Science and Education have the same goals. We got strong support from the Ministry for realizing our plans, came across a truly open door, and agreed on further cooperation.''

Minister Divjak thanked Madam Rector for the invitation: ''It is a good thing that we are setting up goals together and working on concrete measures. With all due respect to the University, there must be a serious discussion. Our resources are limited, while the potentials are not. We have been greeted by the students who presented their projects. The University of Rijeka sends a very important message – the students come first. We have agreed at the Senate Session that one of the essential determinants is relevant and targeted education, as well as excellence in science and we will continue working on it. We’ve also discussed the development of the University’s "Third Mission’’, i.e. the responsibility towards society and the community. I repeat, we will not interfere in the University's autonomy, but the University of Rijeka is indeed the front runner in open dialogue’’, Minister Divjak concluded.
