Brlić-Mažuranić and Rijeka

A lecture entitled ''Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić and Rijeka'', the last lecture from this year's Colloquia Fluminensia – Heritage Talks cycle, will be held on Wednesday, October 17th, 2018, at 6 pm, in the premises of the permanent ''Glagoljica'' exhibition hall at the University of Library Rijeka (Dolac 1). The lecture will be held by Prof. Vinko Brešić, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb.

Several Croatian cities are more or less associated with the life of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić. Apart from Ogulin, her birthplace, and Brod on Sava as the town where this famous writer lived the longest, and Zagreb, where she often stayed and eventually died, the City of Rijeka also left its mark on her life. She came to Rijeka for the first time when she was only fifteen years old and there are several records on that, and then for the second time relatively late – when her oldest daughter, Nada Brlić, married doctor Viktor Ružić, a Rijeka lawyer and politician. This lecture will cover these records and give an insight into the Rijeka's role in the author's private and professional life.
