Slovene Language Lectorate Opened

 

The opening ceremony of the Slovene Language Lectorate was held on Wednesday, October 24th, 2018, at the Department of Croatian Language and Literature at the UNIRI Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. On this occasion, H.E. Smiljana Knez, Ph.D., Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the Republic of Croatia, attended the ceremony.


Also present at the opening ceremony were:

Associate Prof. Ines Srdoč-Konestra, Ph.D., Dean of the UNIRI Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences,

Prof. Roman Kuhar, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana,

Prof. Sonja Novak Lukanović, Ph.D., Director of the Institute for Ethnic Studies from Ljubljana,

Prof. Alen Ružić, M.D., Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Science,

Mr. Prim. Nikola Ivaniš, Ph.D., Deputy Mayor of the City of Rijeka. 


Professor Ines Srdoč-Konestra, Ph.D., stated that the Slovenian language course is to begin in the summer semester when a Slovenian language lector will come to the UNIRI Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.  

Professor Alen Ružić, M.D., Ph.D., welcomed the esteemed guests and congratulated the Department of Croatian Language and Literature on behalf of Prof. Snježana Prijić-Samaržija, Ph.D., University of Rijeka Rector, and the University Management. 

After the opening ceremony, a roundtable discussion entitled "Language – Minority – Culture'' was held.
